/ Perfect precision

CAD-CAM & 3D measurements

With our CAD/CAM environment, 3D metrology and conditioned measuring room , we translate every design into a manufacturable and controlled precision part.

From 2D sketch to validated end product: digitally modelled, cleverly programmed and measured down to the micron under controlled conditions.

FROM DIGITAL DESIGN TO CNC PRODUCTION

3D measuring bench for quality control of precision parts at BO-Solutions in Roeselare

With CAD-CAM software and 3D measurement technology, we bring engineering, production and control together. Your design is made and checked to 5 micrometers.

What we do:

  • CAD modeling (Inventor):
optimization of models for manufacturability, machining strategies and fixtures.
  • CAM programming: (Hypermill & Fusion 360)
Automatic generation of CNC programs, tailored to machine, material and machining time.
  • Reverse Engineering: digitizing existing parts and converting them into usable CAD models for remanufacturing or to create an improved version.

This creates a direct line from CAD to CAM, with zero margin of error and fast start-up at the machine.

CAD-CAM 3D MEASUREMENTS & QUALITY CONTROL

Our 3D measuring machines check parts down to the micron, so that your product is exactly within tolerance.

Our 3D measurements include:

  • CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Measurements for Critical Dimensions and Shapes
  • Optical measuring devices for complex geometries and free-form surfaces
  • Measurement reports tailored to your quality flow (in accordance with ISO 9001)

The result: objective, traceable quality data. Precision as it should be.

FOR WHICH PROJECTS IS CAD-CAM 3D MEASUREMENT RECOMMENDED?

Ideal for remanufacturing, modifications and precision work

Our CAD-CAM 3D measurements are recommended if you:

  • Wants to reproduce or improve existing parts (remanufacturing)
  • Want to make prototypes or small series where every deviation counts
  • Wants to make modifications to existing structures or machine parts
  • Consistent quality and traceability expected for recurring and multiple batches
  • If you want full transparency as a customer: 3D measurements, quality control and detailed measurement reports per part

In this way, every step is substantiated: from digital model to checked, perfect end product.

Frequently Asked Questions about CAD-CAM & 3D Measurements

What is the difference between CAD and CAM?

CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is about designing and modeling products in 2D or 3D.

CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) uses these CAD models to generate CNC programs and machining strategies for machines. At BO-Solutions, CAD and CAM merge seamlessly, so that design and production fit together perfectly.

CAD in 3D modeling means that a part is built completely three-dimensionally in software. This makes sizes, shapes, fits, tolerances and operations immediately visible. This is the basis for CAM programming, simulations and 3D measurements.

A CAD-CAM programmer translates designs and 3D models into practical CNC programs. He/she chooses tools, machining strategies, speeds, fixtures and ensures that the part can be produced manufacturably, efficiently and within tolerance.

CAD stands for Computer-Aided Design. It is the collective name for software that is used to create, modify and manage technical drawings and 3D models.

There are different types of CAD systems, including:

  • 2D CAD for classic technical drawings
  • 3D CAD for volume models and assemblies
  • Parametric CAD where measures and relationships are intelligently linked
  • Specialist CAD for mechanical engineering, design

At BO-Solutions we work with 3D CAD (Inventor) as the basis for CAM programming and 3D measurements.
